Vocal Techniques Workshop

At The Westgate School, Winchester, January 2019

Fed up of being accused of singing flat? Can’t get through long phrases? Claire helped us find out why! This workshop used musicianship training for aural skills and a recap of the Accent Breathing Method basics, followed by a question and answer session.

Workshop Leader Claire Williams

Claire Williams studied singing at the Royal Academy of Music and the Guildhall School of Music and Drama. Having started as a chorister at Ripon Cathedral, Claire’s love for choral music has extended into her career where she has enjoyed singing for some of the country’s leading ensembles. A regular on the opera stage and with numerous projects, she recently performed in Shanghai, Aix-en-Provence and Athens.

Accompanist Jamal Sutton

Jamal Sutton is Deputy Head of Music at Charterhouse School. Before moving to Surrey, Jamal was accompanist to Winchester Music Club for seven years, assisting and performing alongside the choir in numerous concerts. This was the first time since the move that he joined forces with WMC again, and he was thrilled to be welcomed back.
